We were sooooo excited to get to Animal Kingdom where we were set to meet up with the Chappell family. We hadn't seen each other since our previous Disney trip - 18 months beforehand. Hudson was only 3 months old at that time, he was now nearly 20 months. They had also not met Emily. It was our longest stretch of time away from each other ever.

But we did have a bit of time to kill before their expected arrival. So we started right away collecting stamps for Riley's Kid's Discovery Club Passport. A great little program they have where kids stop at various spots around the park for some educational activities. Riley really enjoyed the one-on-one attention.
So the time had come to find the Chappell family. Needless to say it was a VERY emotional greeting outside the KILIMANJARO SAFARI. Lots of hugs and kisses and tears by me. The kids were attached immediately. Especially Riley and Lauren at the very beginning - no suprise there. I swear they were hand in hand for the remainder of the day.
We wandered over to the Yak and Yeti for lunch, stopping for some drum playing and to watch the beautiful moving tree sculpture.
The kids were quite funny, getting to know each other again over lunch - and attepting to eat with their chopsticks.
Then it was back to Africa for the traditional yearly face painting and on to the Safari Ride. This ride is awesome. It had been a while since I had been on, last year I was pregnant with Emily, so I sat it out. This year we all went on. Definitly bumpy, but fun.

The girls looked fantastic with their faces painted, I think it is Riley's prettyest look to date.

A stop off at Everest in Asia for ice cream for the kids and the coaster for the adults. Good use of fast passes and rider switch passes here. Kris and I stayed with the kids while Jay and Jacqui rode, then they came off and because of the rider switch pass, we could go immediately on. We were all in and out in 20 minutes. Why people wait in line for 2 hours I will never know. Then it was off to Dinoland, which is a favorite area for the kids. They loved playing in 'The Boneyard', and interactive play area. Emily and Hudson couldn't get enough of the slides, though Hudson definitely moved on to bigger and better slides pretty quickly.

Before heading home, we hopped on for a ride on 'Triceretops Spin' and met up with Goofy, where we discovered then Emily was S.C.A.R.E.D. of the characters once they got up close.
