Disney Trip December 2008!

Okay, lets start with our most recent trip, seeing as I can remember it the most and my pictures are still on my hard drive. Here we go!
We like to fly into Orlando on the Friday evening and stay at the Sheraton by the airport to get a good night's sleep before the Disney excitement kicks in, then we get up in the morning and take the Magical Express (a Disney Coach) to our Resort.
This year we stayed at ANIMAL KINGDOM LODGE. I can not tell you how beautiful this resort was. And even more so, I'm sure, since it was all decked out for the holidays. This was definitely a trip based in and around Christmas.
It was quite a spectacular resort to pull up to. It is an African Lodge-style resort, with a thatched roof.

When you entered the lobby it was even more spectacular!! Such a grand lobby and a fabulous tree stood front and centre. This hotel was gorgeous. Imported African hand carved furnishings, and loads of African artifacts and artwork. Here is Emily the day we arrived (I think Riley was hiding behind the stroller). And a picture of Riley and Kris crossing the bridge to our room.

The Lodge sits amidst a 33-acre wildlife reserve which has about 30 different species of animals including the ostrich, zebra, giraffes, impalas, wildebeest, gazelles, flamingos, and pelicans just to name a few. All of which you can view from various viewing balconies, or of course, off your balcony!!! We were visited most frequently by the zebras, giraffes, ostrich and anicole cattle (I think).
We had a quick stop in our room which overlooked the Sunset Savanna before heading out to Animal Kingdom to meet the Chappells.
